Fashion in Film Festival presents highlights from its third edition Birds of Paradise, an intoxicating exploration of costume as a form of cinematic spectacle.

From the lavishly stylised underground films of the 1940s-1970s, to the exquisitely opulent ‘spectacle' and Orientalist films of the silent era and Hollywood exotica of the 1940s, the programme features those films that most distinctly foreground costume, adornment and styling as vehicles of sensuous pleasure and enchantment, including the UK premiere of the recently restored La Danseuse Orchidée (dir. Léonce Perret, 1928).

Fashion in Film's Kinoscope Parlour at the Arnolfini will play a selection of early dance, trick and féerie films of the 1890s and 1900s on three peepshow machines.
