Museo Aero Solar is a flying museum, a collective artwork. It is a solar-energy air balloon, completely made up of reused plastic bags, with new sections being added each time it travels the world, thus changing techniques, drawings and shapes, and growing in size every time it sets sail in the air.

 A week of design workshops, practical making activities, film screenings will end with a spectacular launch of the balloon on this Sunday (9 Oct). We also have a discussion with the artists involved on Friday 7 Oct.

Although we are very much hoping that the weather conditions will be good and we are planning for the inflation of the balloon in Hengrove Park on 9 Oct, the nature of this event is dependent on the weather.  It is therefore advisable that you keep an eye on the website for updates in the run up to the launch. A final decision will be made before 6am on Sunday morning and will be posted here. Please do check the website before setting off on your journey.

In the event that we do have to change our plans, we hope to semi inflate the balloon indoors at the Bottle Yard on Whitchurch Lane (third entrance with security gate, closest to Bamfield Road). In this case access to the event will be limited due to the nature of the site so if you wish to attend please contact box office to book your place before 8pm on Saturday 8 Oct. Admission will be free.

If you've not booked a slot before 8pm on Sat 8 Oct you are welcome to come along but entry is not guaranteed. Parking is also limited to those booked in to the slots above at the Bottle Yard.

Please be advised that if the weather is good and the launch takes place in Hengrove Park the indoor inflation will not take place.

Balloon ideas will be shown online and at Arnolfini. There will be prizes for the most inspired creations. All ages welcome.
