A recent artist-in-residence at Arnolfini, Janek Simon presents new understandings of geography and distance in our technologically globalised world.
He has been inspired by the concept of ‘the end of geography’ and for his solo exhibition, Simon is undertaking a research project revisiting key locations of the Trans-Atlantic Trade Triangle - namely West Coast Africa, the Caribbean and Bristol - developing a series of artworks that will result from the experiences and exchanges on his travels. This historical route is revisited through the lens of today’s technologically-orientated perception of geographic space, distance and globalised trade.

Discussion & Exhibition Launch Event
