Kerry Tribe
· Great to have one person's work across the whole building - an opportunity to really get a sense of somebody's practice
· Fascinating new show. Great use of space in gallery 1. Really enjoying all the old technology and its application here. Shame the projector on level 1 wasn't working.
· This is one of the most intelligent and compelling shows I have seen at Arnolfini in many years - so congratulations. The coherence of a one person show, well displayed, helps, but having the courage to show subtle but extraordinary reflective narratives is refreshing.
· I love the Reading Room! I enjoyed the butterfly projection. An elaborate exhibition? I really like the fact that it is using 16mm film and it makes the exhibition so delicate and fragile. I'm planning to visit again when it is quieter.
· Brings me a new fascination with projectors beyond a kitsch nostalgia: the strangeness of a physical strip of film turning into a moving image, and this brings into contemplation the physical-ness or real-ness of memory. The whole show seeps questions into the edge of my mind and does not proclaim to have any answers or concrete, which is good. The audio tape in gal 2/3/4 makes a sound like rain, but its accidental sound.
· Five stars! It's really refreshing to see a show using so much OLD MEDIA, such as 16mm film, with a real reason and purpose for doing so, rather than just as a gimmick! The technologies used by Kerry Tribe are completely integral to the work, and our reception and understanding of each of them individually, and as a whole exhibition. I'm looking forward to seeing how the show translates/evolves during the tour to Camden and Oxford!
· It seems like nothing has been left to chance - every detail of the presentation of the work appears to be v. considered, which causes the whole show to be more convincing and therefore I feel happy giving my time and thoughts to it.
· I think the art is very cool and now it is all one artist, I would definitely come back.
