Arnolfini Live brings together artists who use performance, film and sculpture to explore dark landscapes of sexuality and desire. In this season artists use real natural environments against claustrophobic inner spaces. Using ideas stolen from fairy stories, fairgrounds, forests and Victoriana the artists reappraise the contemporary feminine in a series of shows, installations and residencies.

Annette Foster draws on the imagery of fairy tales, Victorian representation and fortune telling. Her work is theatrical, intimate and unsettling, exploring the hidden tensions of social interaction. Costumes are used to create characters that suggest particular archetypes, values or emotional states. The performing character, often exotic in appearance, acts as a channel for the revelation
of secrets and memories.
Destiny, a flirtatious performance that draws you into a strange world of 19th century decadence, obsession, and fairytale. Destiny is inspired by Foucault's idea's about Victorian culture, the imagery of De Sade and the history of pornography.
