Shringara: A Journey of Desire is a 70-minute solo classical Bharata Natyam work with live musical accompaniment. Through four fragments that explore the complex nuances of desire, Seeta Patel takes us within the fantasy of the sacred female. She explores the path taken by the classical heroine, yearning for a physical consummation that will unravel into heights of sublimity. Through 18th century musical scores the dancer challenges our perception of time, defining herself as a contemporary 'instrument' that channels the love poems of the past, making them live in the present.
