A classic of the silent era, with a famous, bizarre dream sequence and some outrageous (for that time) cinematic effects, Murnau's The Last Laugh is the tale of the aging doorman who loses his job and with it his dignity, regularly appears in critics’ top ten films of all time.
Philip Glass is a reference point for John Law’s live score, composed for piano, keyboard, soprano saxophone, bass clarinet, Beethoven samples and a vast array of percussion, including wind machine. The group also includes Jon Lloyd on soprano saxophone and bass clarinet and classical percussionist Jeremy Little.
“John Law remains one of the under-recognized giants of British modern jazz/new music piano” - Downtown Music Gallery, New York Funded by Arts Council England.
