Grouper
A one-woman project from Portland, Oregon, Grouper - aka Liz Harris - makes gauzy hypnotizing hymns, milky, murky and beautiful music. She combines the spooky with the sublime, washing her guitar, Wurlitzer and voice with waves of reverb. She has released work on Free Porcupine, Collective Jyrk, and Type Records, collaborated with Xiu Xiu, and toured with Animal Collective. Both her groundbreaking Way Their Crept (re-released in in 2007), and her 2008 album, Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill, received massive acclaim. Drowned in Sound called the latter "deeply meditative, almost spiritual... one of the most delicate, affecting albums of the year".

Lawrence English
LE is a media artist, composer and critic based in Brisbane, Australia, and the founder of the Room 40 label. His work is eclectic and characterises a long-term exploration into various themes including audio/visual environments, found sound/vision, subtle transformation of public space and sonic art works that exist at the very edge of perception. Sonically, the work calls into question the established relationships between sound and structure - traversing experimental soundscapes and free improvisation to sheering rhythmic works and concrète-influenced compositions. In recent years English has performed and improvised with the likes of David Toop, Terry Riley, Keith Whitman, DJ Olive, Janek Schaefer and KK Null. Outside of his recording and art commissions, Lawrence also curates a number of ongoing sound and art festivals and events.

Rafael Anton Irisarri
Irisarri is an American composer, multi-instrumentalist, curator and mixed media artist based in Seattle, Washington, and the main member of electronic/shoegaze act The Sight Below. His music captures an essential vision of floating tones, deep pulsing bass and textured Gaussian curves, a sound that transports and transfixes. Sparse piano notes, reverb-drenched guitar textures, subsonic drones, field recordings, soundclouds, strings and minimal electronic counterpoints make up a sonic aesthetic which recalls the sonic atmospheres of David Lynch's Twin Peaks, contributing a new form to the traditions of neoclassical, spectral and ambient sublimity. Irisarri has released on over a dozen labels worldwide, working with Ghostly International, Miasmah, and the Thrill Jockey distributed label, Immune, and has performed at international festivals like Sónar. His latest solo LP, "The North Bend," on Room40, is an ambitious work that tips its hat to the rugged terrain of the American Pacific Northwest.

Andrea Belfi
Working mainly with drums and percussion, Belfi's inventive live playing and enhanced electronics have made him into one of the most productive operatives in Italy's minimal rock underground. Solo, his work reveals a hypersensitivity to sound and space: a beautiful and beguiling combination of ambient, electronics, looped samples, minimalist melodic patterns, tuned percussion resonances and post-rock sensibilities.
"his music seems to emanate from some very private cocoon of improvisation, a bower of retreat wrought in hollow, funereal drumming, haloed by a drifting pollen of percussive effects." The Wire
