Rising classical music stars the Kleio Quartet and pianist Julius Asal perform at a live Radio 3 concert

As part of BBC Radio 3’s Day of Dance celebrating dance and dance-inspired music, this is your chance to be in the audience for a live Radio 3 broadcast concert starring BBC New Generation Artists, the Kleio Quartet and pianist Julius Asal. The programme includes music from Prokofiev’s ballet, Romeo and Juliet, now forever associated with BBC One’s The Apprentice.

About the Kleio Quartet

First Prize and Commission Prize winners at the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition 2023, the Kleio Quartet are quickly establishing themselves as an internationally-recognised quartet.

Described by Alina Ibragimova as “a wonderfully dedicated group of musicians who bring assuredness and freshness to everything they play”, they formed at the Seiji Ozawa International Chamber Academy in 2019 and consist of individually acclaimed musicians Yume Fujise, Katherine Yoon, Jenny Lewisohn and Eliza Millett.

About Julius Asal

Praised by Menahem Pressler for his “uniquely beautiful sound and special sonority“, German pianist Julius Asal is regarded as one of the most promising performers of his generation. In October 2023, Deutsche Grammophon announced his exclusive signing and he was selected as a BBC New Generation Artist from September 2024 for two years.

​The young pianist, named as Rising Star 2024 by Classic FM, is a regular guest at international festivals (Oxford Piano Festival, Rheingau Music Festival, Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, L‘Esprit du Piano Bordeaux, Davos Festival, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Gustav Mahler Festival Toblach etc.) and has performed in prestigious concert halls such as Wigmore Hall London, Musikverein Vienna, Suntory Hall Tokyo and Laeiszhalle Hamburg.
