Join us for the book launch and celebration event of The Mermaid’s Hair is Water, a new poetry publication by writers from our Creatives in Residence Art in Motion (AIM).
The Mermaid’s Hair is Water brings together poems by Jonathan Barr Lindsay, Emily Boden, Aisha Jawo, Dave Pearse, Beth Richards, Betty Sargent and Katy Tovey. Together, they have pooled their imaginations to create these poems. Some were written collaboratively, others individually, but every piece in this publication was inspired by Emma Talbot: Everything is Energy. The exhibition acted as a spark for inspiration, with each artist responding in their own voice.
All the writers are part of AIM, a dynamic organisation based at Arnolfini that collaborates with learning-disabled and neurodivergent artists. AIM is rooted in the belief that the arts should reflect the richness and complexity of all communities, and works to remove the physical, social and institutional barriers that have too often excluded disabled artists from full participation in the arts.
When:
30 January, 2pm
Gallery 1, First Floor, Arnolfini
Come celebrate the first book and hear more about the work – we’d love to see you there!
