How do our senses help us find poetry in moments of uncertainty and urgency? A weekend programme exploring touch, multisensoriality and rhythm in our universe of warnings, with live performances and a study day.
Friday evening concert, 19:30 – 21:00
The weekend will open with a performance and screening event featuring new collaborative commissions from vocalist Dali De Saint Paul, percussionist Valentina Magaletti, artist Aura Satz and dancer and choreographer Holly Thomas.
Saturday study day, 11:00 – 17:00
Featuring contributions by Aura Satz, Ximena Alarcon-Diáz, Amina Abbas Nazari, Carina Fearnley, Kyle Kean, Ilan Kelman, James Saunders, Holly Thomas and Sibusiso Tshabalala. To register your interest, please email Phil.Owen@arnolfini.org.uk
The programme activates and displays a collection of conceptual artworks, artistic scores, protest materials and public warning systems curated by Francesca Cavallo and Irene Revell (which will be available to view in the Reading Room). Also presented across the weekend will be a newly-commissioned audio work by Mark Titchner.
Funded by the AHRC ‘Scoring Warnings’ project, a collaboration between the Royal College of Art, University of the Arts London’s Creative Research into Sound Arts Practice (CRiSAP), University College London’s Warning Research Centre (WRC), the Global Network of Civil Society Organisations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR), Tate Modern, East Gallery, Arnolfini, Hangar Barcelona and more.
