Arnolfini - est 1961

Join us for two days of hands-on workshops with Arnolfini’s Creatives in Residence, Let’s Make Art.

This May, our We Are Family sessions take inspiration from The Arnolfini Portrait by Jan van Eyck – the artwork that gave Arnolfini its name. Painted in 1434, this iconic image is packed with hidden symbols, rich colours, and a remarkable mirror that reflects more than meets the eye. We’ll explore how artworks can reveal secret stories and invite us to look closer.

Families can enjoy a range of creative activities, including bilateral mirror drawing, collaborative partner portraits, dressing up and recreating the scene, and creating collages of interiors, inspired by the painting. There’ll also be opportunities to experiment with colour and detail to create your own expressive portraits.

Join us to discover how even the smallest details can hold big meanings and bring your own stories to life through art.
