CERITH WYN EVANS
PAYSAGE FAUTIF (WAYWARD LANDSCAPE)
FRI 23 SEP 9.30PM HARBOURSIDE FREE
The work of Cerith Wyn Evans could be characterised by its focus on language and perception, as well as its precise, conceptual clarity, often informed by his interest in art and film history. Often Wyn Evan’s works harness the potential of language to create moments, where romantic longing, desire and reality conjoin. His ‘Firework’ pieces are wooden structures that spell out texts that burn. This text firework piece on the occasion of Arnolfini’s 50th anniversary uses quotes written by Marcel Duchamp to his lover

A suitably off-piste and art-haus birthday party bill featuring five from music’s underworld: pulverising machine groove from London’s Factory Floor, radioactive torchsong caught in the dub-punk echo from Bristol’s Anika, and unpredictable subversion with added bass weight from who-knows-where’s Hype Williams. Afterwards Optimo’s JD Twitch ices the cake and spins the plates til late.
