This session uses Chantal Joffe’s current exhibition as a jumping off point to explore creative writing on art.
We’ll explore the work of some writers that have been influential to Joffe, such as Gertrude Stein, Susan Sontag and Olivia Lang. We’ll discuss how these writers use words to communicate the felt experience of looking at artworks in unconventional and memorable ways. And we’ll use a series of hands-on exercises to create our own written responses to Joffe’s paintings.
