As part of their schools’ engagement programme we have been working with A Level Art & Photography students from St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School.

The students visited the ballast seed garden, a project from Brazilian artist Maria Thereza Alves, took observational drawings, photographed plants in the environment and studied the water along the river.

The University of Bristol has obtained funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to develop the project for Bristol schools and community groups by enabling them to grow ballast seed gardens of their own and developing a programme of engagement activities. This next stage of the project is called Seeds of Change: Growing a Living History of Bristol. As partners, Arnolfini will be working alongside the University of Bristol Centre of Public Engagement and Botanic Garden on the development of the programme in schools and community groups.
