Arnolfini - est 1961

The Beck’s Futures contemporary art prize is a showcase for emerging artists. A panel of judges consisting of high-profile artists have selected a shortlist of 13 promising artists who best demonstrate the relevance of the contemporary UK art scene.

For the first time, Beck’s Futures brings the short-listed artists’ work to three venues across the UK simultaneously; Arnolfini joins CCA, Glasgow and the ICA, London in this year’s presentation.
The works encompass audio-visual, drawing, installation, painting, performance, photography, sculpture, and draw influences and references from sources ranging from architecture, comics, comedians, film-making, histories – both real and imagined – politics, music, and even a Welsh model-railway club. Grotesque, delicate, flamboyant, thoughtful, provocative, reflective and vital, Beck’s Futures 2006 offers its audiences a range of uniquely personal perspectives.

This year the public have been invited to play a part in the allocation of the prize. Votes will be collected on-line and at host venues. Details about this as well as further information about the artists is available from www.becksfutures.co.uk
