A city-wide festival of contemporary music and sound
First artists announced with limited early bird festival passes on sale now.
The first names announced for the 2022 festival include Hezarfen Ensemble, Angel Bat Dawid, Bendik Giske, Nazar with Rob Heppell, Beatrice Dillon feat. Kuljit Bhamra, Viridian Ensemble, Harrga and MC Yallah and DEBMASTER.
For the opening concert, on Thursday 5 May at St. George’s Bristol, BNM has co-commissioned an ensemble performance of new group compositions by Mica Levi, with support from Still House Plants.
Among site-specific works which draw inspiration from Bristol locations are artist Kelly Jayne Jones’ intimate multimedia performance deep inside the hidden vaults of Clifton Suspension Bridge, Áine O’Dwyer capturing the song and instrumentation of time, place and people in the Bristol neighbourhood of Easton, and Ellen Arkbro performing a new organ piece on the renowned Harrison & Harrison organ at St Mary Redcliffe.
Bristol New Music takes place biennially across Bristol. It is a collaboration between five key organisations in the city: Bristol Beacon, Arnolfini, Spike Island, St George’s Bristol and the University of Bristol.
