Earth Din is a performance and installation stemming from recordings of earth activity picked up in Bristol University via and seismometer. These sounds originated from Indonesia (7,595 mile distance) Greece (1,765 miles distance) Fiji (9,959 miles distance), travelling underground and picked up through the stone of the Wills Tower at Bristol University with the help of Dr Ophelia George. Also electrical currents, naturally occurring sferics picked up by radio receiver and plucked from the ionosphere 30 miles above the north coast of Svalbard, Norway.

This intimate installation space will be activated by two performances during the festival, with Shirley Pegna joined by leading contemporary musicians Angharad Davies and Dominic Lash. The trio’s improvised sound, bass violin and cello, will interact with the field recordings, leading us through the planetary sound scape.
