This screening brings together a collection of historical and contemporary moving image works considering the evolving relationship between sound and image.

With: Bridget Crone

Curated by Paul Purgas

This screening brings together a collection of historical and contemporary moving image works (including those by Carsten Nicolai, Len Lye and John Stehura) and considers the evolving relationship between sound and image. The programme explores early experimental filmmaking and pioneering computer animation as well as contemporary artists interrogating the structural, imaginary and indexical possibilities of sound within the moving image.

Paul Purgas is a London based curator and electronic musician. He graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2004 and has since curated projects for Tate Britain, the De La Warr Pavilion, Spike Island, Bold Tendencies and Färgfabriken in Stockholm.

Please note, this event begins at the earlier time of 6.00pm.

The Film Exercise is a monthly programme of screenings and discussion that explores the urgency, social or political timeliness in curatorial approaches to artists’ film and video, as well as delighting in the diversity of artists’ work in the field of the moving image. Curated by Bridget Crone and Al Cameron.
