Arnolfini - est 1961

Fri 26 & Sat 27 Feb 8.00pm
£8.00/£6.00 Concs
This performance installation is developed from an ancient Hindu myth The Churning of the Ocean and the artist’s love of electro-pop band Depeche Mode. The Modes of Al-lkseer premieres at Arnolfini, fusing contemporary pop culture, advertising aesthetic and tongue in cheek humour with epic symbolic imagery. It observes and locates the place of ancient religious symbolism and mythology into a world obsessed with capitalism, the celebrity and marketing gimmicks.
