A critically-acclaimed performance that asks, what is morality in a time of war?
‘Britain’s most brilliant experimental theatre company’ – The Guardian
Set during WWII, The Notebook is an unsettling story of twin brothers evacuated to their grandmother’s farm to shelter from the conflict.
These unnamed children are social outsiders, mavericks who survive and understand the world by a harsh private code. As war deepens, the brothers are revealed as struggling moralists, trying to live by consistent principles in a world crumbling into cruelty and opportunism.
‘What a corker of a story: a reflection on the terrors of war, staged with stunningly beautiful simplicity’ – Total Theatre
The Notebook is an unravelling knot of naïve logic, that weaves dark and subversive humour from wartime hardships.
Presented in partnership with Tobacco Factory Theatres.
