Please join Labour Behind the Label as they activate the Still I Rise gallery space in the run up to Black Friday.

Presented by Arnolfini as part of the Still I Rise expanded programme. Sharing conversation, perspectives, and experiences – this activation aims to open up vital discussions about the experiences of women and queer people in the world today, and the acts of resistance underway and necessary – right here in Bristol.

The fashion industry operates in the shadows, with a lack of transparency and complex global supply chains enabling human rights abuses to continue unchecked. Fashion is a feminist issue and approximately 80% of garment workers worldwide are women. These women work six or seven days per week for poverty pay, often in unsafe factories, all for fashion brands that turn profits in the millions and billions.

Labour Behind the Label campaign for garment workers rights worldwide. As part of Still I Rise they will be running an informal session exploring their work and asking what we, as consumers in the UK, can do to further amplify the demands of garment workers.

Please join us in the run up to Black Friday as we take action to put an end to sweatshop factories and the exploitation of garment workers. We will be inviting people to write or draw a personalised message to fast fashion giant Boohoo, calling on them to #GoTransparent and release their factory supplier list, a vital first step towards transparency.

Together we can make change happen.

The event will be run by Ilana Winterstein and Meg Lewis from Labour Behind the Label.
