Let’s Make Art are working on an exciting project celebrating the archives of the Arnolfini, concluding with an exhibition in August.
This May half term, they invite children and their families to design playful posters showcasing past and imaginary exhibitions alongside Karen and Alice’s cherry picked activities that have been provided by the Arnolfini over the past 50 years.
Teen takeover! In spirit with the series of children’s workshops run in 1982 by students on the Art Teachers Diploma course, under the supervision of their tutor, Edward Phelps, these sessions will be run by GCSE art students from Ashton Park with guidance from Karen and Alice. Inspired by their ongoing GCSE portfolio’s of work, they will take a look at shape, composition, photography, typography and layout design to create stunning collage poster designs. which introduce techniques similar to those used before the aid of computers, there will be many materials to explore including i.e Letraset transfers, collage, layering, stencils and hand drawing.
We will have collaborative mark making for smaller ones to take part, however the main activity is suitable for 7 years and above.
Please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting messy in.
Children of all ages welcome.
