Goat Island
It’s an Earthquake in My Heart
What is the difference between the present and the past? How can that difference be touched? What produces fear, and how do we say “I am not afraid?” How do we dance? Why do we sing? How do we know about death? How do we learn to live, and to love the world? In a narrow performance space, angled askew and surrounded by audience, Goat Island present the UK premiere of their seventh piece, which circles around an unnamed disaster that is both historical and personal – memories of the time before, enactments of its occurrence, reconstructions in its aftermath. In extended sequences of contemplative spoken texts, complex choreography and chaotic theatricality, the group presents a singular, highly structured, contemporary performance experience.
