The second event of the third series will create a platform for young people to engage in debate and challenge ideas around issues that matter to them.

Cultural appropriation is when elements of one culture are used by people from a different cultural group, especially if it’s people from a dominant culture taking from an oppressed culture. We’re talking bindis, kimonos and Hip Hop. But who decides what’s appropriation and what’s a genuine cultural exchange? Why is it ok for some groups or individuals to take from other cultures but not from others? Are we all just too quick to take offence?

Please join us at the Royal West of England Academy to engage in an active debate around these issues.

Young People’s Festival of Ideas is a series of debates on critical issues affecting young people today.

Brought to you by an event partnership between Bristol Festival of Ideas, Arnolfini and Rising Arts Agency.

This event is open to all. Tickets are free but booking is required via eventbrite.
