As part of IMPACT 12, the international multidisciplinary printmaking conference hosted by the Centre for Print Research at UWE Bristol, Arnolfini are displaying a site-specific fabric installation, Paths of Resistance, by artist and keynote speaker at the conference, Tracy Hill.
Paths of Resistance is part of a wider exploration by Hill into the give-and-take relationship between person and place, the impression each leaves on the other, and the hidden energies that shape our experience of the world. Hill will shape the work in response to magnetic fields measured in the space at Arnolfini.
Tracy Hill is a visual artist and research associate at Artlab Contemporary Print Studios, University of Central Lancashire. Through print, drawing and installation works, Hill’s practice explores the historical legacy of post-industrial landscapes, our forgotten understanding, lost relationships and connection to place.
IMPACT 12 takes place Wednesday 21 to Sunday 25 September, online and in Bristol, the exhibition opens from Thursday 22 September. This year, IMPACT 12’s theme is the Printmakers’ Voice and speaking alongside Hill at the conference will be Chilean artist Rodrigo Arteaga, whose works Fallen Tree and Monocultures are currently on show in our ground floor gallery as part of the exhibition Forest: Wake this Ground (until 2 October 2022).
