FLY! Festival of Black Women’s Theatre | War is constantly changing its methodology, its weapons, its strategies – but some things never change.
Sheba Soul Ensemble is a collective of performers who came together in November 2017. Their mission is to recast and bring to life ancient Afrikan stories, drawing upon their vitality for community transformation.
Warnings, written and directed by Akulah Agbami, is their latest production. War is constantly changing its methodology, its weapons, its strategies – but some things never change.
Taking the long view of how different ancient Afrikan wars have scarred the continent, the performance exhorts us to look deep into our own lives and heed the warnings. Bringing together dance, poetry, improvisation and song, this is a performance which will sadden, gladden and prompt you to think again.
Note: Contains strong language, references to violence, war, and bereavement. Recommended for audiences 15+.
Sheba Soul Ensemble was established in 2017. They specialize in theatre which draws its power and inspiration from Afrikan theatrical traditions.
