Primers
For anyone interested in furthering their knowledge of contemporary art and ideas, each of these day workshops, organised in conjunction with the University of Bristol, takes a lively and in-depth look at a different key theme and is led by an expert in that subject.

Saturday 25 October 10.00 – 16.00
Figuring Authorship and Originality
Is it possible for anyone to make an original statement? Can artists say anything new? Or is all new art just a version of what has gone before? If so, what role do artists, writers and others play in the making process? These key themes in art and thinking became of central importance to the art and culture of the 1980s. During this event Robin Marriner will explore the emergence and impact of ideas such as ‘the Death of the Author’.
