RIBA Stephen Lawrence Prize: The Fishing Hut by Niall McLaughlin Architecture Centre talk
Winner of the 2015 RIBA Stephen Lawrence Prize, The Fishing Hut by Niall McLaughlin is a sophisticated primitive hut, set on a Hampshire lake, close by chalk-filtered streams providing watercress beds and fishing. Niall McLaughlin shares the design story behind this timber framed and clad construction on galvanised supports hovering over the lake, intended both as a retreat for fishermen and a place for the owner’s family to unwind.
