Since the early 80s, Californian artist Ron Athey has been a major presence in body-based performance, influencing a generation of artists. Athey has been a long-term collaborator with Manuel Vason and this is a new piece designed for the context of Vasons exhibition. Exploring the relationships between desire, sexuality, control and suffering, Atheys work challenges physical and emotional boundaries.
