Arnolfini - est 1961

Join Elizabeth Robles, Department of History of Art, University of Bristol on a boat tour to the Floating Ballast Seed Garden.

Led by Art Historian Elizabeth Robles, find out about the role ships play in the work of two very different contemporary artists Yinka Shonibare and Keith Piper, and explore themes of shipping, migration and trans-Atlantic exchange in the cycles and circuits of the ‘Black Atlantic’.

Elizabeth Robles is a third year PhD candidate working with Dr. Dorothy Rowe in the History of Art department at the University of Bristol. Her project, titled ‘Disruptive Aesthetics: Black British Art since the 1980s’, encompasses an art historical reassessment of objects and creative practices that have, with few exceptions, been consumed by discourses of cultural theory and identity politics.

This event has been part funded by AHRC through the AHRC Cultural Engagement Fund pilot scheme, working with Research Fellow Catherine Hunt, University of Bristol.

Advance booking required.
