Join us to participate in playing a seminal piece of improvised composition. This workshop is open to all those interested in making sound, and no musical training is required in order to take part. Places are limited and booking is advised through the Box Office on 0117 917 2300.

Cobra is the most well-known of the “game pieces” written by American composer and improviser John Zorn. Completed in the early 1980s, it has since been performed countless times across the world. Based on improvisation, the piece uses a system of cues to enable sudden changes from one type of activity to another. Tonight we present a workshop in the spirit of Cobra that is open to any and all people interested in making sound – traditional or non-traditional instruments, voice, electronics, or beyond. No traditional musical training is required (nor is it a disadvantage), just a willingness to make decisions in the moment and an openness to having the rug pulled from under your feet at any moment.
