UWE & Arnolfini present Serena Korda, talking about her art practice – giving audiences collective experiences that focus on the forgotten and overlooked.
Serena Korda works with sound, objects (often costumes and ceramics) and performance. She reconsiders aspects of communion and tradition in our lives. Underpinning her practice is a desire to find and highlight ritual in the everyday, which is developed through encounters, conversations and the researching of abandoned histories.
She was recently Norma Lipman/BALTIC fellow in Ceramic Sculpture at Newcastle University and has shown widely including with the National Trust, The Baltic, Camden Arts Centre, Arnolfini, and the Grundy in Blackpool – where she staged an aquatic dance routine complete with Godzilla.
