Should Bristol become a high rise city? Exploring this hotly discussed topic, we’ll hear from experts on architecture and city planning. Do tall buildings communicate ambition and energy? Will they harm sustainability? Will they solve the housing crisis, or will they generate less social housing?

Hosted by the Bristol Civic Society, join us for an open discussion with talks by 4 of Britain’s best-respected experts on urban densification:

Prof Yolande Barnes, Chair of the Bartlett Real Estate Institute at UCL, on investment and cultural trends moving cities away from high-rise

Rab Bennetts, founder and CEO of Bennetts Associates, the UK’s leading sustainability-oriented architectural practice

Prof Philip Steadman of UCL Energy Institute, whose research focuses on tall buildings’ energy use

David Milner, Project Manager at Create Streets, a leading pressure group pushing for more beautiful housing

The event will be followed by a lively discussion between the audience and speakers.

Our Café Bar will be open till late serving food and drinks. Come along before the show for our Pre-Theatre Menu, serving 5-6.30pm.
