Tapestry is a collaborative artwork by participants in creativeShift’s Art on Referral groups, depicting their shared cultural experiences of the Bristol City Harbourside.
After visiting Grayson Perry’s exhibition ‘The Most Popular Art Exhibition Ever!’ shown at Arnolfini in 2017, the group was inspired to make a tapestry that told personal stories connected to the Harbour. Participants worked on their own individual textile pieces during the group sessions, coming together to hand stitch, chat, drink tea and complete the piece over several workshops at Arnolfini. creativeShift are pleased to be showing Tapestry where the idea was born, and in the Light Studio with its views over the Harbourside. creativeShift is a small team of creative practitioners dedicated to using the arts to support people in Bristol and the Southwest experiencing social isolation, mental and physical health challenges. They have been working in partnership with Arnolfini since 2018, sharing a belief in the power of creativity to support wellbeing, and a commitment to ensure the arts are accessible to all.
Tapestry is a creativeShift project in partnership with Arnolfini, The Bristol Museum Service and Bristol Ferry Company, funded by the National Lottery Awards.
