Torsten Lauschmann
Torsten Lauschmanns work is characterised by a sense of playful experimentation and generosity. He works in a wide range of media including video projection, animation, photography, sculpture and performance. Since 2000 he has been developing techniques through which to explore the sculptural qualities of video projection. This has often involved projecting manipulated found footage or animation onto sculptural objects or elaborate geometric wall drawings to produce an illusion of three-dimensionality. For his exhibition at Arnolfini, Lauschmann will be presenting new work which develops this investigation into the philosophical and social potential of technologies.
Glasgow based Lauschmann has been awarded a Space for 10 residency which has been hosted jointly by Spike Island and Arnolfini. Space for 10 is a national residency programme run by The Art House and funded by The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
