Presented as part of Bristol Artists Book Event #BABE2019 | Guy Begbie’s ‘Sculptural Tower Book’ Workshop.

Using some key book making skills and paper engineering, you will have the opportunity to make and take away a book that opens outwards, then expands upwards several times to create a tall freestanding structure.

The book will fold down to be conventionally contained within covers with a tabbed slot closure.

This workshop is intended for participants with or without book making experience.

Sculptural Tower Books is a three-hour workshop for participants of all skill levels and all materials will be provided.

Venue – Light Studio, Level 2, Arnolfini.

Guy Begbie is an interdisciplinary artist/printmaker, bookbinder & university associate lecturer currently based in Wales, UK. As an independent internationalist artist, he makes book works influenced by a core interest in the parallels between bookbinding structures & architectural/sculptural forms. He exhibits his work internationally and has delivered independent artists’ book workshops and lectures across the UK, in other parts of Europe and in Australia.

Bristol Artists Book Event (BABE 2019) is a biennial festival featuring the work of bookmakers and small presses from around the world.
