Speed Of Life (2022)
Working with Yama over the last few months has been inspirational – so many experiences of life brought together in one room by a common passion for dance. Together we have explored and utilised different techniques to empower personal expression through movement. Yama would like to dedicate this piece to Jane.
A Dance film by Xavier De Santos with Yama Dance Company Original Music by Ry J
Reminiscing memories and stories of our days playing out in the streets and alleyways which are now no longer the norm, WONDERLANE is a nostalgic recollection of the curious and adventurous playgrounds of past freedoms. A dance film inspired by a collective of photographers who captured the streets of Britain fifty or more years ago, and the lost art of playing outside.
The Waves (2021)
Inspired by Virginia Woolf’s writing, The Waves, is a short film featuring dancers from Yama Dance Company, shot in Burnham-on-Sea at the end of a Winter lockdown.
Directed by Roseanna Anderson, with music from Robert Bentall, the film is a portrait of expression, landscape, friendship… and of women.
