This Summer, to celebrate our exhibition, Threads join Let’s Make Art every Tuesday and Wednesday throughout August for an exciting programme of textile based workshops. Take part in a giant collaborative weaving, design fabrics, stitch your own purse and dance ribbons into plaits.
11am to 1pm, 2pm to 4pm, in our big Theatre space.
You can expect to get messy, so please do not wear your best clothes!
Week 1: Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 August
Make pom-poms, string art and Will Cruickshank inspired yarn-wrapped sculptures.
Week 2: Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 August
Learn how to make a friendship knot, stitch a purse and make a thread doll of a friend or family member.
Week 3: Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 August
Create stitch cards and make your own Japanese Semamori stitch cards.
Week 4: Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 August: Fuzzy Art
Make a fuzzy art work from fibres based on Caroline Achaintre’s magical work.
Week 5: Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 August
Try your hand at weaving with recycled T-Shirt yarn and make a woven paper cup container.
